“When the wind of change blow, some people build walls while others build windmills”. Every year, August 20th is observed as Akshaya Urja Diwas to raise awareness for the development and efficient use of renewable energy in India. The day also commemorates the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Carmel Convent High School, celebrated Akshaya Urja Diwas on 20th August 2022, to make children aware of the energy sources generated using natural resources like hydroelectric power, solar energy, wind energy and biogas. Every day the depletion of the natural resources is rising at a high level, which is a cause of concern for the future generation to tackle energy sources. Also on 20th August 2022, Science Club had organized poster making competition for classes V, VI, VII. And elocution competition for Classes VIII, IX, & X. Students actively participated in the competitions. The topic given for poster competition was “Energy Conservation” (duration 1hr).Students made beautiful posters. The judges for this competition were Tr.Shaileja and Tr.Aditi. The topic for elocution competition was “Renewable Energy” [duration 2 min]. The judges for this competition were Tr.Nutan ,Tr.Suja, Tr.Sajita. All the judges were felicitated with saplings as a token of love and appreciation. Name of the winners were announced on Tuesday 22nd August 2022 and students were appreciated with certificates.
