A world without a girl is a world without love. But in India, even today the age old attitudes harmful to the development of the girl child such as female foeticide, slavery, dowry deaths, human trafficking, discrimination towards right to education and inheritance of family property or wealth are still prevailing. To bring awareness about the importance of girl children, to change our traditional mindset towards girls and to create equal opportunities for growth and place of girls in society, every year on 8th September, we celebrate the Girl Child Day. This day is also celebrated as the feast of our Blessed Virgin Mary. This year our school celebrated girl child day on 23rd September 2022. A wonderful programme was put up by the students of classes II and VIII. The programme begins with a prayer service beginning with an act showing a brief diary of an unborn girl child. To grace the occasion with her valuable presence, we had Mrs. Pranita Bhakare, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Kalamboli Police station, as our Chief Guest. On this event of Girl Child Day celebration, it was indeed an inspiration and motivation to have such a versatile personality who herself is an example of women empowerment. During her speech, she encouraged young girls to follow their dreams and choose their career. She also enlightened us about the safety of our girl children and how to safeguard themfromthese crimes especially from the cyber crime. The programme continued with various cultural items like group song, dances and a skit which portrayed different areas of our society where girls and women are suffering and how they have come up in their lives fighting against all odds. The entire programme gave us the message that girls are nation builders, save them, support them, love them, encourage them and take care of them. The programme ended with the school anthem.
